Most of the students who participated in the party came from South East Asia, but we also had some representation from Africa and Europe. Traditional dishes from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Srilanka, Kyrgyzstan and Bangladesh also added more flavor to the party. We also had games and performances to make the evening more memorable. Leaders and teachers from the School of International Student Education and Administration Office also joined with us that day to welcome newcomers. Often newcomers feel homesick and takes time to adapt to the new school. Our aim was to give them a warm welcome, to let them know they aren’t alone. During the party, newcomers were very excited to try Calligraphy, paint Beijing opera faces and making dumplings. And it was nice seeing them making new friends. At the end of the day, the event was successful and newcomers looked very happy.
